Initial Review of Vynagrip Anti-Slip Mats

Vynagrip is sold as a high performance anti-slip, anti-fatigue industrial matting. The “duck board” design easily allows fluids to flow through the mat and drain, preventing the buildup of oils/water which diminish the anti-slip properties.

We purchased ours from The Durable Corporation. My initial inspection of the mat on arrival revealed a product which appears to be well manufactured and solid. The mat lied flat fresh out of the box and the trip hazard from its height is negligible.

The mat is used in a area which receives a lot of oil and water, so slip resistance is paramount. While the mat and the tread of my boots was coated in oil, I tested the slip resistance of the mat. I was very impressed with the amount of felt grip from the mat.

I will continue to monitor the performance and lifespan of this mat and post an update. Below are specs for the mat.

Acoustic:Excellent sound absorption properties.

Anti-fatigue: University of Hertfordshire 1997; Evaluation of Anti Fatigue properties by self reports, sustained attention and electromyography measurements.

Result: – 10% fatigue reduction

Chemical: Resistant to most acids, alkalines and oils. For specific chemical resistances, click here.

Composition: Flexible DINP plasticised Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).

Environment: Black colour is made from 100% post-industrial recycled PVC. Plastex does not use any substances currently included in the SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) list under R.E.A.C.H.* in any matting products. All PVC grid products are 100% recyclable.

Insulation resistance > 2000M

Electric strength = 12,600 volts

Fire: EN13501-1 : 2007 – Cfl 1 – S1

Hygiene: Non-porous 100% Virgin PVC – Inhibits the growth of bacteria. ReversionThermoplastic shrinkage can result in size reductions up to 2%. Accelerated in hot environments (see here).

Slip resistance: ASTM F 1677 – Dry/Wet: 0.7/0.6DIN 51130: R11, V10

Thermal: Functional from – 23ºC to +60ºC (slight size variation may occur at temperature extremes).
